Jeddah

Jeddah sits along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast and has long served as a gateway between the Arabian Peninsula and the wider world. For centuries, merchants, pilgrims, and travelers passed through its port on the way to Mecca, shaping a city known for openness and exchange. This history is most visible in Al-Balad, the old town, where coral-stone houses with carved wooden balconies reflect a distinctive architectural style tied to Red Sea trade routes.

The city’s coastal setting defines much of its character. The Jeddah Corniche stretches for kilometers along the shoreline, offering views of the sea, public art installations, and gathering spaces that come alive in the evening. Offshore, coral reefs support some of the Red Sea’s most accessible diving and snorkeling, with clear waters and vibrant marine life just beyond the city.

Jeddah feels more informal and outward-looking than many other Saudi cities, blending tradition with a contemporary rhythm. Art galleries, cafés, and restored historic buildings sit alongside modern districts, creating a place that feels both rooted and evolving.
